CROCK
IT BROWNIES FOR THE LADIES IN THE SOUP KITCHEN by CHEF DAN:
Makes
12 squares
INGREDIENTS:
1-cup
all-purpose flour
1/4-cup
unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4-teaspoon
baking powder
1
cup brown sugar
1/4-teaspoon
salt
1
stick butter
8
ounces bittersweet chocolate
1/2-cup
smooth peanut butter
2/3-cup
evaporated milk
2-
teaspoon vanilla
3
eggs, lightly beaten
1
cup slivered almonds or walnuts
1
cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS:
1.
Coat
the bottom of crock-pot with cooking spray.
2.
In
bowl whisk together, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
3.
Place
butter and chocolate in microwave safe bowl.
4.
In
increments of 30 seconds, stirring after each until butter and chocolate is
melted.
5.
Add
sugar; stir to combine, add flour mixture, eggs, peanut butter, milk, and vanilla.
6.
Add
melted butter and chocolate to sugar, flour, egg, mixture.
7.
Fold
all ingredients together.
8.
Mix
in 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.
9.
Top
with slivered almonds.
10.
Pour
into crock-pot
11.
Cook
on high for 2 hours.
12.
Trace
a knife around the edge of the brownies to loosen them from the crock-pot.
13.
Lift
crock-pot liner out and flip over to release the brownies onto a cooling rack.
14.
Sprinkle
with powdered sugar.
