THE GANG ALL HERE SO OVERNIGHT FRENCH TOAST ENJOY DAN:

                       OVERNIGHT FRENCH TOAST by CHEF DAN:

Serves 8-10                             (FOR THE SAUL- LANGFORD GANG)



INGREDIENTS:



1/2-cup butter (1 stick)

12 slices Texas toast or any leftover bread

1/2- cup brown sugar

1/4-cup maple syrup or honey

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2-cup chopped pecans

5 eggs

2-cups milk

TOPPING:

2 tablespoons white sugar

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1teaspoons cinnamon





DIRECTIONS:                                     (PRE-HEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES)



1.    Spray a 9X13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

2.    Set aside.

3.    In a sauce pan over low-medium heat, melt 1 stick of butter, brown sugar, maple syrup or honey,  cinnamon, 1/4-cup nuts, together and stir until sugar is dissolved.

4.    Remove from heat and spread on the bottom of the baking dish.

5.    Place sliced bread in the pan on top of the sticky goo.

6.    Whisk together milk, eggs, 1/2-cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, mix well.

7.    Pour the milk and egg mixture slowly over the bread, opening the slices to allow the liquid to get in between the bread.

8.    Press down to make sure the bread is wet.

9.    Cover with plastic wrap.

10. Refrigerate overnight.

11. In the morning remove from refrigerate and remove the plastic wrap.

12. In a bowl mix together 2 tablespoons each brown and white sugar, and cinnamon.

13. Sprinkle the overnight French toast with the cinnamon sugar and remaining chopped pecans.

14. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

15. Remove foil and bake 15 more minutes.

16. Remove from oven.

17. I like to pour maple syrup over the top and place back in the oven to caramelize.

18. Bake for 5-7 minutes.
