SIRLOIN
STEAK MARINATED IN COFFEE AND COCA COLA by CHEF DAN:
Serves
4
INGREDIENTS:
1-1/4-pound
sirloin steak, trimmed
A
smidgen of cayenne pepper, or to taste
MARINATE:
1
(12 Oz) can coca cola regular not diet
1/2-cup
strong brewed coffee
2
tablespoon olive oil
3
tablespoons lemon juice
1/2-teaspoon
EACH garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and red pepper flakes
3
tablespoon soy sauce
2
garlic cloves, minced
DIRECTIONS:
1.
With
a sharp knife, score both sides of steak in a crisscross pattern.
2.
Place
in a large zip lock bag.
3.
In
a bowl whisk all marinate ingredients together.
4.
Pour
into the zip lock bag, close and turn over a few times to coat.
5.
Refrigerate
overnight.
6.
Remove
meat from the marinate; save the marinate.
7.
Pat
dry with paper towels, and season with salt and cayenne pepper.
8.
Pour
marinate into a sauce pan over medium-heat.
9.
Simmer
for 10 minutes, strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl.
10.
Grill
meat on a pre-heat grill and grill steaks 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
11.
Remove
to a platter and let rest for 5 minutes.
12.
Thinly
slice across the grain to serve.
13.
Drizzle
serving with reduced coffee-cola marinate.
