GREAT GARLIC BREAD by CHEF DAN:

A whole loaf serves several or 1-2

INGREDIENTS:

3 tablespoons olive oil

3 tablespoons butter

1/4- cup water

6 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons dried basil

2 teaspoons dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

1 loaf French bread or crusty baguette

1 cup shredded parmigiano-reggiano cheese

DIRECTIONS:

1. Pre-heat oven 400 degrees.

2. In a sauce pan, combine all the ingredients except the bread and cheese, over medium-low heat.

3. When the butter melts, cover the pan and cook for 10 minutes.

4. Once the garlic is soft, uncover the pan and simmer until you hear the mixture sizzling.

5. That means the water has cooked off.

6. Remove pan from the heat.

7. Split the bread in half horizontally.

8. Divide the garlic blend between the two loaves.

9. Sprinkle each with halve the cheese.

10. Set them on a foil-covered baking sheet, cheese side up.

11. Bake for 15 minutes.

12. Slice and serve hot.
