MASHED POTATOES AND TURNIPS by
CHEF DAN:

INGREDIENTS:
2
whole garlic cloves
1/2-onion,
peeled
3
baking potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
2
turnips, peeled cut into 1-inch pieces
1/4-cup
finely grated Parmesan cheese
1
tablespoon prepared horseradish
1/4-cup
Mexican Style sour cream
Kosher
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
1.
Push
garlic into onion.
2.
Place
onion, potato, and turnips in a saucepan.
3.
Cover
with salted water.
4.
Bring
to a boil.
5.
Reduce
heat, simmer for 20 minutes, or until potato and turnip are tender.
6.
Drain;
and discard onion and cloves of garlic.
7.
Return
potato mixture to the pan.
8.
Mash
with a potato masher to your desired consistency.
9.
Add
Parmesan cheese and next 4 ingredients.
