JAMES GARDNER ITALIAN DELIGHT by CHEF DAN:

the 1951 Cowboy Cookbook from E. lindbard)
Serves
6-8
INGREDIENTS:
vegetables oil
vegetables oil
1
garlic clove, chopped
1
green bell pepper, chopped
1
small onion, chopped
1
pound ground sirloin steak
116-ounce
can whole tomatoes, drained
115-ounce
cream style corn
1
10 3/4-ounce can tomato soup
1
cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese
Chili
powder to taste
Cayenne
pepper to taste
Salt
and pepper to taste
¾-pound
spaghetti or penne pasta
DIRECTIONS: (PREHEAT OVEN TO 325)
1.
In
hot oil, fry the garlic, green pepper, and onion until thoroughly cooked.
2.
Add
ground sirloin, cook until browned.
3.
Add
the tomatoes, corn, and tomato soup; mix well.
4.
Add
the grated cheese, and stir until melted.
5.
Stir
in chili powder, cayenne pepper, and salt & pepper to taste.
6.
Remove
from heat and set aside.
7.
Cook
spaghetti according to package directions.
8.
Drain.
9.
Add
sauce, mix thoroughly and divide into 2 casseroles.
10.
In
preheated oven bake uncovered, just until hot.
