OVERNIGHT FRENCH TOAST WITH ORANGE SAUCE ENJOY DAN:

                OVERNIGHT FRENCH TOAST WITH ORANGE SAUCE by CHEF DAN:

Serves 8-10                             (FOR THE SAUL- LANGFORD GANG)    



INGREDIENTS:



1/2-cup butter (1 stick)

12 slices Texas toast or any leftover bread

1/2- cup brown sugar

1/4-cup orange juice

1/4-cup maple syrup or honey

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2-cup chopped pecans

4 eggs

1-cup milk



WONDERFUL ORANGE SAUCE:

1/3-cup butter

1/4-cup sugar

1/4-cup frozen orange juice, thawed







DIRECTIONS:                                     (PRE-HEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES)



1.    Spray a 9X13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

2.    Set aside.

3.    In a sauce pan over low-medium heat, melt 1 stick of butter, brown sugar, maple syrup or honey,  cinnamon, 1/4-cup nuts, together and stir until sugar is dissolved.

4.    Remove from heat and spread on the bottom of the baking dish.

5.    Place sliced bread in the pan on top of the sticky goo.

6.    Whisk together milk, eggs, 1/2-cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, mix well.

7.    Pour the milk and egg mixture slowly over the bread, opening the slices to allow the liquid to get in between the bread.

8.    Press down to make sure the bread is wet.

9.    Cover with plastic wrap.

10. Refrigerate overnight.

11. In the morning remove from refrigerate and remove the plastic wrap.

12. In a bowl mix together 1/3-cup butter, 1/4-cup sugar, and 1/4-cup orange juice.

13. Sprinkle the overnight French toast with the orange sauce and remaining pecans.

14. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

15. Remove foil and bake 15 more minutes.

16. Remove from oven and serve with DAN’S balsamic syrup or maple syrup.
